Tinting and Recommendations

Acrylic paints can be tinted manually (with Farbex Color pigment concentrate or water-based pastes) or by machine. When using third-party materials, it is important to check their resistance to external conditions and conduct a test tinting.

Tinting Features:

• Tinting Touch of Magic decorative enamel may alter the pearl effect, so a test application should be done before mixing the entire paint volume.
• For uniform shade, use paint from one batch. If batches differ, mix them before painting.
• It is not recommended to dilute the paint during the final layer application.
• After tinting, slight changes in the technical characteristics of the paint may occur.

Tip: Consider the lighting of the room and surface positioning. Lighting, light angle, surface texture, and time of day can affect color perception.

Preparation and Application

1. Surface Preparation

The surface must be dry, free from dust, dirt, grease, corrosion, and flaking coatings. Cleaning can be done mechanically, thermally, or chemically.

• • Metal – treat to degree St2 or Sa2½ (DSTU ISO 8501-1), degrease with Maxima thinner.
  • Wood – sand, remove dust, resin, and possible fungus damage, level with Farbex putty. Moisture ≤ 20%.
  • Mineral substrates – remove loose parts, efflorescence, mold, level with Farbex putty.
  • Glass – sand for adhesion, degrease with Maxima thinner.
  • Previously painted surfaces – sand, remove dust.

Before using third-party materials (primer, antiseptic), check compatibility.

2. Priming

For long-lasting coating, it is recommended:

• • Metal – Maxima anti-corrosion primer.
  • Wood – Maxima wood protection primer (raises grain, needs sanding).
  • Mineral surfaces – Aqua Primer Maxima concentrate (dilute according to instructions).

Dense surfaces (OSB, MDF, textured wallpaper, old coatings) do not require priming.

3. Final Coating Application

The surface must be dry before painting.

• • The enamel is ready for use, mix thoroughly before application.
  • Apply 1-2 layers, next one no earlier than 2 hours.
  • Consumption depends on the surface type and is determined by trial application.
  • Paint evenly, continuously, within one decorative element.
  • Optimal application temperature: +5…+35°C, humidity ≤ 80%. Avoid direct sunlight, wind, and precipitation.
  • Full coating strength – after 28 days.

Recommendations:

• • Touch of Magic has low coverage – the base should be uniform.
  • To save material, preliminary painting with white or similar pastel color is recommended.
  • Use material from one batch or mix different batches before painting.

4. Material Compatibility

• • Previous layer – acrylic or alkyd materials.
  • Next layer – only Touch of Magic enamel is recommended. Water-dispersion paints will destroy the pearlescent effect.
